The Health Financing Section is responsible for the following:
- Preparation of national health accounts reporting and supporting the development of health services, finance and expenditure policies
- Development of national standards and rules for the pricing of health care services in public and private sectors
- Conducting economic implication assessment studies for health policies such as cost-benefit analysis, cost-effectiveness analysis
- Conducting of economic assessment studies for health technology and provision of expert advice on the impact of the latest technologies in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, in coordination with the relevant authorities
- Conduct financial studies of expenditure trends and future financial forecasts and propose the necessary corrective actions to address any deviations.
- Conducting actuarial studies to calculate the cost of health services covered by health insurance and annual premiums and performing periodical review and issuance of certificates and annual actuarial reports when necessary
- Conducting insurance risk mitigation studies according to international best practices.
- Development of insurance support rules, and target population.
- Determine payment mechanisms for health service providers and controls for submitting financial claims from health service providers to insurance companies and claims management companies.
- In coordination with the competent authorities to ensure that health insurance companies have the necessary capabilities and financial stability to support the continued coverage of beneficiaries without interruption.
